Position: Senior Trademark Attorney, Attorney-at-Law
Cao Thu Phuong is expert on all aspects of trademark, unfair competition and copyright laws. Her skill set includes trademark availability and registration searches, trademark clearance, litigation, processing, due diligence, licensing, counseling and the research and formation of opinions on relative and absolute grounds. She is known for rending cutting edge analysis, and supplying her clients with appropriate solutions to trademark litigation, responses, appeals, oppositions and cancellations at the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam.
Ms. Phuong’s extensive experience in negotiating and drafting licensing, coexistence and settlement agreements is demonstrable. In her role as Senior Research Analyst, Ms. Phuong conducts comprehensive trademark searches and issues reports on potential trademark infringements.
Ms. Phuong is our Senior Trademark Attorney of ACTIP IP Limited and also legal counsel of ACTIP Law Firm.
Before joining ACTIP IP Limited, Ms. Phuong was the Head of the Trademark Department at Ageless IP Attorneys & Consultants from 2006 to 2007. She has lectured from 2007 through 2011 on Civil & Family Law at Vietnam National University‘s School of Law in Hanoi, and also served as Senior Supporting Officer for the Judicial Development and Grassroots Engagement Project from August 2011 through August 2012. Ms. Phuong has processed hundreds of trademark applications and participated in numerous trademark cases.
Ms. Phuong obtained her Master of Law in 2010 from Vietnam National University in Hanoi, her Bachelor of Law with Honors from Vietnam National University in 2007. She was granted a Lawyer In-Training Diploma from the Judicial Academy in 2007.
Other accomplishments include completing the Course for Patent Attorney from the National Office of Intellectual Property in 2007, completing Understanding Legal Practice in Singapore from the Vietnam-Singapore Training Center in 2010, and attending the “Intellectual Property Systems” course at the Vietnam–Singapore Training Center, sponsored by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2010.
